This well-balanced contact staff is made of 7075-T6 aluminum for high durability, comes with many safety enhancements, and has a long burn time. Need help fitting a staff to you? Click the Learn More link below to learn how.
Body / Tube
The staff body is made from 7075-T6 aluminum, which is one of the strongest aluminum alloys and is the equivalent to many titanium alloys. This staff's 3/4" diameter fits comfortably on the body and rolls at a speed great for tactile control, but isn't so thin that the staff is springy or easily bends. 3/4 ounce weights are embedded under each wick to increase rotational inertia, making it easier to keep the staff spinning.

Burn time / Flame Size
The 4" wicks on this staff will burn for 4:30 - 5:30 minutes* and produce large flames.

* Burn times are estimated based on recorded burns using pure "white gas" / Coleman's Liquid Camp Fuel. Actual burn times may vary based on individual spinning style, length of fuel soak, and other factors.

We provide three grip options:

Classic Grip is a traditional adhesive-backed rubber grip. It is tear-resistant, and has a very slight ridge. To maintain its grippy surface, you should periodically clean this grip with soap, water, and the rough side of a sponge.

EPDM Grip is an adhesive-backed alternative to standard grip. It is slightly softer and produces a perfectly smooth grip surface, but is more susceptible to surface damage. However, minor surface damage actually makes it textured, resulting in this surface becoming progressively grippier over time. It also lasts longer than Standard Grip in high-humid environments. It can also leave a light black residue on hands and clothes, though it washes off easily.

Om Grip is a yoga mat based grip with adhesive-backing. It has more give then the other two options and is slightly less grippy than EPDM. This is especially good for dragon staff work, where you don't want the hair on your arms pulled out and the extra cushion will allow for longer practice times. It also comes in colors and does not leave any residue on your arms after use (like EPDM does). It is not as grippy as EPDM, so for those artist looking for the most tacky contact staff grip, EPDM is probably a better option.

Exposed Metal
Most severe equipment burns come from searing-hot exposed metal, not from the wicks. To minimize exposed metal, these staff wicks are attached with four recessed rivets (less exposed metal than screws and no need for retightening). The staff ends are covered with two wick layers, creating a long-lasting cover for a potentially sharp and hot metal edge. And, the aluminum between the grip and wicks is covered with a silicone wrap that diffuses heat and allows you to safely touch the staff within inches of burning wicks. You can choose the color you would like the end silicone wrap and add a customization note if you want different colors on each end.
